In June of 2019, the CFA Institute released the third modification to the GIPS® reporting standards, creating a foundation to better accommodate alternative investment managers, private wealth firms, and asset owners in their quest to provide clarity and transparency to their investors. While once an optional component of the investment process for asset managers, the GIPS standards have since become a de facto standard business practice expanding to the wealth management and asset owner space.

Sean Murray joined FactSet via the acquisition of BISAM and is now responsible for the product strategy of FactSet’s Performance and Reporting solutions, after leading the commercial strategy and sales of FactSet’s Performance and Attribution solutions. Sean joined BISAM in 2012, first as the Global Head of Sales Engineering and later as the Global Head of Product Strategy. Prior to BISAM, Sean held commercial, consulting, and strategic account positions at Eagle Investment Systems, DST International (now SS&C), and Misys. Sean holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Mrs. Kaiser Schwartz is a director of global industry standards at CFA Institute. She maintains the GIPS standards through management of the interpretations process, develops standards and guidance for new technical areas, and works extensively with volunteer committees. As founder and president of Kaiser Consulting Associates, Inc., she has worked with institutional investors on performance measurement and GIPS-related matters. Mrs. Kaiser Schwartz has worked for both investment managers and investors in various performance, risk, and operations-related roles both as an employee and a consultant. Before working for CFA Institute, she was a volunteer on the North American Investment Performance Committee, the Investor/Consultant Subcommittee of the GIPS Executive Committee, and the Intellectual Property Working Group of the GIPS Executive Committee. Ms. Kaiser holds a BS degree in finance from Florida Atlantic University.

Richard J. Kemmling, CPA, CIPM, CGMA is a Partner at ACA Performance Services, a division of ACA Compliance Group. His primary responsibilities include overseeing GIPS® compliance verification engagements, performance certifications, and focused performance reviews, as well as co-leading the division’s operating committee. Richard has worked with firms of all sizes and asset classes around the world. He is a frequent speaker globally on the GIPS standards, has been quoted and interviewed by several industry media outlets, and has written several articles on performance measurement and the GIPS standards. Prior to joining ACA, Richard served as Partner and President at Ashland Partners & Company LLP.
